High blood pressure has been one of the major health issues for many years. If left unchecked, it can potentially lead to many unpleasant complications. Instead of naming them, let’s look into a simple DIY juice that can lower blood pressure in less than an hour.
A word of caution: if your blood pressure (BP) is within normal limits or on the low side, avoid using this recipe. This can reduce the blood pressure below safe limits which can cause fatigue and even fainting. This recipe is for those whose BP is slightly elevated. If you are diagnosed with hypertension, please consult your doctor.
For this easy recipe you will need a cold press juicer (a slow juicer). This is used to juice herbs and garlic that are difficult to process in other types of juicers. This kind of juicer can easily process herbs, greens, hard fruits and vegetables. It is also compact, quiet and easy to clean.
Beets are the main ingredient in this recipe
Raw beet juice is very efficient at lowering blood pressure. This is thanks to nitric oxide that is generated in the body after its consumption. There are many nice but often overlooked recipes where cooked beets are the main ingredient.

Steamed or baked beets make a simple but tasty salad. Beets are also the main ingredient in Borsch. However, none of those cooked beet-based dishes will significantly lower your blood pressure.
Other ingredients like parsley, garlic and basil will contribute to the blood pressure lowering effect. Lemon juice will help balance the taste and will provide vitamin C.

For one large shot of blood pressure lowering juice you will need:
- 3 medium-sized beets
- Juice of 1-2 lemons
- About 1 cup of basil and parsley stalks or leaves
- 1 garlic clove
- Ground cinnamon (optional)
Juice all the ingredients (except the lemon) in a cold press juicer. Remove the foam that has formed on top. To easily juice beets, the skin can be left as is. Just cut out obvious imperfections, dark spots, stalks, etc. Chop beets into small rounds, this will make juicing faster.

It is recommended to filter the juice through a filter cloth or cheese cloth. You can also manually juice the lemon and pour the juice through the same filter cloth.

Pour the filtered juice in a glass and sprinkle with some cinnamon (optional).

You will feel the blood vessels relaxing most likely within half an hour. Maximum effect will be reached within 3-4 hours. This juice is useful anytime you want to lower your blood pressure. It can also be consumed daily for better results.
